d) Railway workers use a mixture of aluminium powder and iron oxide to help them weld broken iron rails together. The mixture is heated and the reaction produces molten iron. This molten iron is poured into the gaps between the broken ends of the rail. When it cools it fills the gap and joins the broken ends together.
