Lesson Title: Neutralisation.,Lesson No: 6,Unit Title: Acids and alkalis

,Unit No: 7E,NC Ref:

,Objectives:
MK –a neutral solution can be obtained by adding an acid to an alkali.
SK – some application of neutralisation reactions.
CK – investigate temperature changes during neutralisation reactions.
,Lesson outline:
Could ask pupils what would happen if you added 100ml
of acid to 10 of alkali? What would happen if there were
equal amounts.
Pose the question what do you put on when you are stung
by a stinging nettle which is an acid?
Bee sting is acidic, what would you put on it?
Wasp sting is alkali, “ “	“	“?

Quick practical on the addition of hydrochloric acid to
sodium hydroxide (an alkali). Pupils must make a neutral
solution. CK- take temperature readings before and
after.
